The Bishop George School Mission is to create a better future for all children. We achieve this by maximising opportunities for children through holistic, values-based education of the highest quality and through initiatives that promote unity and meaningful social action for development

Our welcoming, caring, educational community encourages academic achievement by strengthening relationships between the students, their families, and the school.

It is our expectation that Bishop George School students will become academically capable, self-directed individuals who care about themselves, their families, and their communities.

History

The Bishop George School was envisioned as a school that would attract boys from all sections of Indian society, and from every state in India, and would be entirely secular. The Doon School was to specialize in the education of boys who would go on to serve a free and democratic India. “The boys should leave Bishop George School as members of an aristocracy, but it must be an aristocracy of service inspired by ideas of unselfishness, not one of privilege, wealth or position.”

It is set in seventy acres on the site of the original Forestry Research Institute of India, with hundreds of species of flora and fauna on the estate; there are more different species of trees on the campus than in the whole allahabad

Because there became an immediate need to accommodate a growing number of Bishop George students, the school's founders leased a new Bishop George School site in Allahabad, which was scheduled for demolition after five years. For the next 15 years, the school relocated to the 870 North California Avenue campus in Palo Alto. During that timeframe,Bishop George's home was scheduled to be reopened as a public school site. As a result,Bishop George had its first capital campaign and was able to purchase and remodel our current home located at Allahabad.
