Samlong, a place situated 6km from main city of Ranchi was devoid of schools for higher education. It was a great difficulty and problem for the parents as well as the students of that time.
So the people of Samlong locality put forward their need for an Institution for girls to Bishop and urged him to open a high school. Father Durt who was in the Parish saw the need of school and invited Apostolic Carmel Congregation.
This request was whole heartedly accepted by Mother Mary Theodeshia, the then Superior General and Regional Superior Mother Bernard of North India.
As a result on 21st January 1968, the Carmel Hindi Medium School for girls was established. Father Verbrakan S.J. permitted the sisters to have classes in Parish Halls. Father appointed Sushila Khalkho as a lay teacher to manage the school for 3 months. Class VIII started in the Parish Hall as there was no school building. Sister Marie Therese and Sister Victoria were accommodated in St. Anne’s Novitiate for 3 months permitted by the Superior General Mother Sevika and Rt. Rev. Bishop Pius Kerketta. On 1st September sisters shifted to a rented house. They did not have neither the school building nor the convent.
