The “162nd Annual Sports and Athletic Meet” of Boys’ High School (BHS) and College was held on the sprawling lush green field of the school campus on Sunday. An alumni of the school, Hon’ble Justice Mr. Samit Gopal, Judge, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad was the Chief Guest. The Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke and the Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke accorded a warm and cordial welcome to the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal encouraged the students to actively take part in the field and track events in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
In the battle of mettle, fortitude, courage and determination St. Patrick’s House, in a spectacular display of field and tracks events bagged 510 points to its credit and won the prestigious ‘Athletic Championship Trophy’. St. Andrew’s House with 464 points came second while St. George’s House and St. Peter’s House with 298 and 138 points were placed in the third and fourth positions respectively.
Spreading the colours of brilliance and excellence, the four Houses namely, St. Andrew’s House (Blue), St. Patrick’s House (Green), St. Peter’s House (Yellow) and St. George’s House (Red), displayed a synchronous March Past on the beats of the Army Band. The marching contingent was led by Sports Captain, Mohd Arsh Siddiqui.
The Chief Guest, Justice Samit Gopal took the salute of the impressive March Past. On behalf of the competitors, the Sports Captain took the oath and solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship. Thereafter, the Chief Guest declared the “162nd “Annual Sports and Athletic Meet” open.
The ceremonial lighting of the torch was a breath-taking spectacle. Our star achievers in academics, sports and games who performed brilliantly carried the torch. College Captain Ansh Mishra carried the torch, followed by Saarthak Singh who topped in the ICSE (10) exam in 2023 and secured third rank in All India Merit List and finally our Sports Captain, Mohd Arsh Siddiqui lit the torch.
