The Foundation stone of the Church of St. Thomas’ was laid by the then the Viceroy of India, H.E. The Rt. Hon. LORD HARDINGE on 29th June, 1912. The building is built in half grounded dressed stones, by the craftsmanship of the architect then Mr. Herbet Waller. Besides worship services, the building was used for a parish primary school for less privileged and neighbourhood children.
Later by 1924, the strength of the children increased to such a level that it was recognised by the then Education Department and functioned as St. Thomas’ High School. Its first principal being an English missionary Ms Helen Jerwood. In 1972 when the state of Himachal Pradesh was formed the school was affiliated to the Himachal State Board till the year 2008. The St. Thomas’ School now is a co-educational, Christian minority institution affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education Delhi, under Diocese of Amritsar-Church of North India (CNI).The Chairman being Rt. Rev. Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy and Mrs. Vidhupriya Chakravarty its present Principal.
